When creating employee training videos, or when building an e-learning course of any kind, make SURE that you have ways of engaging your learners.

So many people see e-learning as an inferior learning product to in-person training courses, but that’s just not true. What happens is that instead of a human connection that can often occur in face-to-face training, training videos need to replace any social value that could be had with other benefits to the learners. That benefit needs to be designed and added from the ground up. It’s up to the instructional designers and the video team to create that value — no matter the content of the course. Whether for fun course content that people pay for, or something boring like HIPAA or OSHA training videos, you need to add benefits for your learner to give them some reason to pay attention.
